Håkan Theorin (27/06/1959), a Swedish composer.
"I am a composer of contemporary music, living in Täby, Stockholm, Sweden. I was born in 1959 and have studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm 1979-1983, and have composed works for different categories of instruments and voices. My subjects at the Royal College were, among others, composition, orchestration and electronic music. During the years at the College, I also received lessons in piano two years and clarinet one year. In my spare time, I play the clarinet, saxophones and piano in different orchestras around Stockholm.
The musical language and expressions of my works are sometimes very total-chromatic in a style reminding of the second Viennese School. Examples of this are Quattro Pezzi, Quartetto, Motus, Septetto, Monologo, Ballata, Aria, Trio, Duo, Brass Quintet, Gioco and Rapsodia. Other works are written in a rather diatonic language, permitting even ordinary major and minor triads and composed by diatonic relations of the tonal material, even if in the choral pieces Tre Cori and the Requiem this is combined with a heavy chromaticism in order to heighten the expression of the poems of Tre Cori and the lugubrious words of the Mass. Since 1998, I have solely used a diatonic, major-, minorbased musical language."
