Morlacchi wrote ten masses for the Dresden chapel, besides a great number of other pieces for the church. The best of these was the Requiem, for soli, chorus and orchestra, composed on the occasion of King Frederick Augustus I of Saxony (23/12/1750 - 05/05/1827), written in only ten days.
