Gašpar [Kašpar] Mašek (06/01/1794 - 13/05/1873) a Czech-Slovenian composer, born in Prague, died in Ljubljana. The son of Vincenc Mašek, his early life was spent in Prague and his later life in Slovenia, where he had a successful career as a composer for the theater. He composed operas, operettas, church music, and cantatas. Among his works are the patriotic Slovenian Overture (1870). His son Kamilio Mašek was also a composer.
