Jean Daetwyler (24/01/1907 - 04/06/1994), a Swiss composer. He was born in Basel. He studied composition and conducting at the Paris Conservatoire. In 1938 he settled in the Swiss city of Sierre (Canton Valais), and for the rest of his life he contributed greatly to the musical life of this region as a composer, conductor, choir director and church organist. His Concerto for Alphorn and Orchestra was written in 1970. He died in Sierre in 1994.
Georges Hänni -Haenni- (1896), a Swiss composer, was a teacher of the Sion Conservatory of which he was the co-founder with Jean Daetwyler.
