The Most Rev. Antonin Lhoumeau (1852-1920), was the Superior General of the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom, the twelfth, after St. Louis-Marie, its founder. The Montfortian congregations were founded in 1705 and 1707. During his 1903-1920 term of office, they experienced tremendous growth. Today they carry out their work around the world. Fr. Lhoumeau founded several journals for the diffusion of the teachings of St. Louis-Marie, among them Le Règne de Jésus par Marie. Besides the current title, his other works on Marian spirituality are La Vierge Marie et les apôtres des derniers temps and Elévations Mariales. Fr. Lhoumeau, a brilliant and cultivated soul, was also an accomplished musician and musicologist. He collaborated with Dom Joseph Pothier, the Benedictine liturgist and scholar, and published several studies on Gregorian chant and hymn books. He died in 1920 and is buried in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre in France
