Francesco Canneti (29/08/1807 - 04/08/1884), an Italian organist, composer and writer, born and died at Vicenza, Italy, in 1809. Dramatic and church composer, pupil of Pilotti at Bologna. Works : Emilia, opera, Vicenza, 1830 ; Francesca da Rimini,
do., ib., 1843 ; Requiem Mass (Milan, Lucca); Tanturn Ergo for six voices (ib.).

This requiem was written in 1837, it is for solo voices, male chorus and organ and was recently performed (in October 2007) by the maestros Enrico Zanovello and Mario Lanaro in order to commemorate the 200 years of Francesco Canneti’s birthday.
