Tomáš Norbert Koutník (19/12/1698 - 16/01/1775), a Czech conductor and composer, schoolteacher and choirmaster from Chocen, East Bohemia. He was born in Choceň, died at the same place. He studied music at the Piarist schools in Litomyšl (1716 – 1719) and in Kroměříž (1719 – 1720).In 1729 he returned to Choceň, where he worked as teacher, organist and composer till his death. Koutník´s creation and technique of composition comports with contemporary practice. Only 52 of his figurative church compositions was preserved. His incidence and his production affected the development of music in Eastern Bohemia, where the other local musicians and composers followed him. During his life, Koutnik was reputable citizen and one of the vestrymen of fraternity called “Literátské bratrstvo.
