Vally Weigl (born: Pick) (11/09/1894 - 25/12/1982), a female Austrian composer. She was born in Vienna and into the musically rich world of Austria. She studied piano, music, and musicology at the University of Vienna and studied theory and composition with Karl Weigl (1881-1949), whom she later married.

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;

Length: 7 minutes. Instrumentation: voice with chamber ensemble; string orchestra with solo: soprano,strings(2-1-1)or str orchestra. Her music which is orientated to the common ways of performance (she wrote a considerable amount of light music for choir) reflects this commitment as well. She thus wrote Requiem for Allison in remembrance of the students who died during a demonstration at Kent State University.
