Carlo Galante

Carlo Galante (1959), an Italian composer, from Trento. He began his study of cello and composition in the music conservatory of his native town. He went on to further his musical education under the guidance of Niccolò Castiglioni at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, graduating in 1984. In 1981 he was awarded the Bucchi Prize and won a mention at the International Stockhausen Competition.

This requiem is a collaborative composition of Marco Betta (Lux aeterna), Lorenzo Ferrero (Introito), Carlo Galante (Dies irae), Paolo Arcà, (Offertorio), Matteo D'Amico (Sanctus), Giovanni Sollima (Agnus Dei) and Marco Tutino (Libera me) on a text of Vincenzo Consolo (1933), an Italian writer.
First performance: 27/03/1993, Cathedral of Palermo.
