Joshua M. Abramson (09/10/1996), an American, neo-classical composer of mostly sacred works. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, now residing in Los Angeles, California.
He began composition at the age of 12, starting by writing a short exposition to a symphony. It is yet to be completed. He soon after began professional composition, beginning with "Allegro for Harpsichord" (JMA1). Not even a month later, he had also written "Andante for Harpsichord" (JMA2), and "Minuet in G" (JMA3).
After hearing W. A. Mozart's "Requiem in D Minor" during the summer of 2009, he acquired an instant attraction to sacred works. He began writing motets and short solos for the Roman Catholic mass setting, like "Pater Noster" (JMA5), "The Wicked Shall Draw Their Swords" (JMA6), and "Alleluia" (JMA10), and after only a few months, began writing masses. A year after becoming interested in the requiems of Mozart, Salieri, and M. Haydn, he decided to begin one himself, "Introit in F Minor", but halted work on it while writing the Dies Irae, and declared the work a "... stand alone Introitus setting." The other movements written with the Introit (Te Decet Hymnus, Kyrie, Dies irae) have not been released to the public and are yet to be heard.
He had developed a special fondness of Mozart's Requiem, and in late 2010 began a completion, and finished work on said completion in late 2011. No recordings or performances are yet scheduled.
In March of 2011, he began a full Requiem, "Requiem in F minor" (JMA11), this one for himself, deeming it "Missa pro defuncto meo". It is his largest scored work (for 2 of each voice), and is written in typical baroque mass form.
