Georg Rathgeber (06/06/1869 - 03/01/1949), a German Composer of musical plays, masses, requiems, male choirs and orchestral pieces. He also sometimes composed under the stage name Max Werner.
1869: Born on June 6th in Laudenbach near Weikersheim (Main-Tauberkreis); Teacher training at the seminar in Schwäbisch Gmünd.; 1900: music teacher in Würzburg. Private studies in music. Choir director and editor in Stuttgart. ; 1903: Hechingen. Editor of the newspaper “Der Zoller”, teacher, choir director of the collegiate church choir (until 1920). ; 1906: Resigns from the post of editor and becomes a city employee as secretary. ; Accompanies the services at the synagogue in Hechingen on the harmonium. ;Founder of the Hechinger men's choir. Co-founder of the Hohenzollern Singers' Association and its choirmaster. ; Composition activity, especially of choral works. In 1920: he resigned from several positions in order to devote himself entirely to his work as a composer. ; In 1926: his choral composition “Walderwachen” received an award at the National Song Festival in Philadelphia. ; 1931: Rathgeber retires due to illness. ; 1938: Choral work “The Ensign of St. Leonhard” sparks enthusiasm at the German National Singing Festival in Baltimore. ; 1949: Died on January 3rd in Hechingen.
