Eberhard Arning (30/01/1938) a German composer, born in Lünen. Recorder lessons in the air raid shelter; Piano lessons from 1947, first with the village schoolmaster, later with a trained piano teacher; Trombone choir (tenor horn, slide trombone) from the age of 10; Organ lessons from the age of 14 with Ruth Meyer (Neustädter Marienkirche in Bielefeld; RM created the basis for an intensive musical education, among other things through regular tasks such as small compositions); Children's service accompaniment on the organ; Due to moving organ lessons with Reinhold Birk in Krefeld (1958 - 1960), with Walter Opp in Kitzingen (1961 - 1962).
My heart's desire to study church music at the then church music school in Herford was prevented by force majeure. Only in 1974 did I find the opportunity to study at the church music school in Düsseldorf (director: Hartmut Schmidt). Norbert Ochs (harmony theory and music notation) aroused my particular interest in me, and he knew how to guide and support me with tasks. Self-taught further training, e.g. by studying Arnold Schönberg's "Theory of Harmony" and others.
Wherever I lived on my path as a chemist, my first step was always to the nearest organ. Permanent part-time job 1965 - 1968 in Herne-Baukau; 1974 -1989 Kaarst-Büttgen, where I founded a singing circle (today the "Cantare" choir); The main task was the organization of services in three branch parishes, in addition there were two to three evening music or oratorio performances per year. For me, organ playing, choir and composition belong closely together. Now that I'm older, my focus is on composition. For me that means: small and large choral works, i.e. motets, cantatas and oratorios. Most recently, I released a loose-leaf collection of very easy intonations and backings to the EG stem melodies.
In addition to this activity, there was always time for writing (publication of 11 books) and painting (approx. 600 acrylic and oil paintings; numerous exhibitions).
