Ignaz Xaver Ritter [Ignaz] von Seyfried (15/08/1776 - 27/08/1841), an Austrian composer, pupil of Mozart and Kozeluch, born in Vienna. Seyfried's church music, widely known and partly printed, included many masses and requiems, etc.

Seyfried's church music, widely known and partly printed, included many masses and requiems, motets, offertories, graduals, a Libera for men's voices composed for the funeral of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).

Seyfried was composer, conductor, and musical writer. He is the autor of the important Biographische Notitzen (1831, in autograph manuscript) on Ludwig van Beethoven. At the funeral of Beethoven: "The splendidly ornamented casket carried by the mentioned operatics and surrounded by the Messrs. Conductors Eybler, Hummel, Seyfried, and Kreutzer ... Reached at church the 16 above singers intoned the Libra me Domino de morte aeterna during the consecration originally composed by the conductor Mr. von Seyfried for use on occasion of the performances of Mozart's Requiem for four singing voices with orchestral accompaniment ... "
