Damian Stachowicz (1658 - 27/11/1699), one of Poland's most outstanding composers of the Baroque; born in Sokolow, near Przemysl, died in Lowicz, near Warsaw, Poland. A monk and member of the Piarist Order, Stachowicz was also a professor of rhetoric and poetics. He spent time in Warsaw, Chelm, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Gora Kalwaria, Lowicz, and in Podoliniec in the Spisz region. His most popular work is the concerto Veni Consolator for soprano, clarino trumpet and organs, which is triumphal and bright in nature. Damian Stachowicz's other well-known works include his Missa requiem, the psalms Beatus Vir, Dixit Dominus, Laudate Pueri, and the motet Beata Nobis Gaudia.

Father Damian (1658 - 1699) lived for 41 years, 25 in the congregation of Piarists; was a masterful musician and esteemed composer, renowned throughout the Kingdom of Poland.
