Steve Dobrogosz (26/01/1956), an American composer (from Bellefonte, Pennsylvania). He began his musical studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, while at the same time his reputation began to grow in Scandinavian jazz circles. He has absorbed pop, classical and jazz. He has written over 400 pieces, including chanber music, vocal and instrumental jazz charts, pop songs and choral music, e.g. his Mass (1992).
Author:Erik Centerwall
Educated at Berklee College Of Music, Dobrogosz moved from North Carolina to Stockholm, Sweden in 1978. His lushly textured solo playing is strongly affected by a fluent, virtuoso command of post-romantic piano. Dobrogosz has a fine lyric gift which is most fully realized in his highly expressive accompaniments to singers such as Radka Toneff and Berit Andersson. He has also recorded with bass player Arild Andersen and saxophonist Joakim Milder.
