James Humberstone (07/03/1974), an English-Australian composer. Born in Greenwich, London, England, James studied composition at the University of Exeter with Philip Grange. He is most influenced by late experimental composers and has studied with and written a dissertation on Howard Skempton. James is currently studying composition with Anne Boyd and researching the life of Australian experimentalist, David Ahern.
Requiem
"The Requiem was written between 2002 and 2004 in memory of my mother, Eileen Humberstone (1944-2001), who died in 2001 from cancer. It is a setting of 7 movements of the traditional requiem mass for SATB choir, string orchestra, solo Cor Anglais and solo boy soprano."
