M. Porr
Mchael Porr (1967), a German composer. Born in Dortmund, he first received lessons on the trumpet from his father and later from Friedemann Immer. From 1989 to 1994 he studied church music at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf. After the A exam, the concert exam in organ followed in 1996. From 1996 to 1998 he was cantor of the Evangelical Church of the Cross in Essen; Since 1998 he has been cantor of the Bielertkirche Leverkusen and director of the BachChor Leverkusen. In 2007 he founded the Bielertkirche chamber choir. His compositions have been published since 2010 (by Butz, Strube and Carus publishers) His choral and orchestral works, including the “Requiem” and the fantasia “Da pacem, Domine” have been recorded on CD. In 2013 he was awarded the “Leverkusen Lion” award for his work as director of the Leverkusen BachChor and organizer of the “International Organ Forum” at the Bielert Church. In 2022 he was awarded the title of “Church Music Director” by the Protestant Regional Church in the Rhineland.
