Zoltan Bakaja (21/04/1971) a Hungarian violinist and composer (born in Miskolc).
I was born is Miskolc, in 1971. In Erkel Ferenc School of Music I learned to play the violin. In Bartók Béla Musical Secondary School my violin teacher was Csaba Lenkey for three years, then I was taught by János Fejérvéri to play the viola. In 1990 I began to study in Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, at first in Ferenc Kertész' then in Sándor Nagy' class. I have been teaching since 1997. During this time I got teaching practice on elementary, secondary and upper classes. I worked as a Waldorf teacher for two years, during which time I completed the Postgraduate Waldorf Teaching Seminar.
Besides teaching I regularly give concerts, mainly chamber music. On my concerts I play pieces of classical composers and my own compositions, too.
I have been composing since 1998. I write music mainly for Indian Lyrics. Reading Sanskrit and Bengali poems in the original I was thinking about how could it be possible to show this treasure to those people who did not know this literature and did not know these languages. Since these poems are very musical on their own, and both their rythm and intonation, I found that the easiest way to present them was to set the poems to music. In spring, 2001 was published my choir volume containing choral works for mixed choir and a cycle of three songs. In October, 2001 came out a volume containing pieces composed for children's or women's choir.
