Wytze Oostenbrug (06/04/1943), a Dutch composer. He studied physics in Groningen. During his studies, the piano lessons he received in his youth made him want to make music himself. He experimented with composition, immersed himself in solfège and harmony, and became a member of the Toonkunstkoor Bekker in Groningen under the direction of Charles de Wolff.
After moving to Delft in 1976, he soon joined the Cantarella Singing and Oratorio Society and took piano and harmony lessons. He studied the violin for several years with his two children. In 1992 he became a member of the Philharmonic Koor Toonkunst in Rotterdam. He also took singing lessons. From 2001 to 2010 he was conductor of the Delft Chamber Choir Via Cantare. During this time he attended the Kurt Thomas course for choral conducting in Utrecht several times. For this choir he made several choral arrangements of Dutch and Italian folk melodies.
Joining the Schumann Academy met the need for a broader theoretical basis. He successfully completed this in July 2012. As a composer, however, he remained self-taught. However, this training was the immediate reason to work with composition again. The first results are an Ave Maria and the Alma Redemptoris Mater.
