Francesco Antonio Rosetti

Francesco Antonio Rosetti [originally Anton Rösler; also known as Franz Anton Rösler, Rössler, Roessler, Rossler, Rossetti, Rosety] (26/10/1746 - 30/06/1792), a Bohemian composer, double-bass player and conductor, born in Leitmeritz (Bohemia).
Antonio Rosetti was born in Leitmeritz, Bohemia around the year 1750. Knowledge of his early years are obscure but he received his early musical training from the Jesuits of Bohemia. He was originally intended for Priesthood but was never ordained. His music is in the popular style of the time and is similar to that of Mozart and Haydn. He was born as "Anton Rossler" as his mother may have been German, he later took the Italian form of the name. 1773: Joins the "Hofkapelle" of Prince Oettingen-Wallerstein near Augsburg. c.1773: Changes his name to the Italian form, Antonio Rosetti. 1774: Promoted to official position of "Hofmusikus". 1776: Composes Requiem in E flat major; travels Europe. 1781:Visits the French Capital Paris. 1782: First publication of his Six Symphonies opus 3. 1782-89: Composes Symphonies and Wind Music. 1789: Rosetti moves to "Ludwigslust" near Berlin. 1791: Rosetti performs his Requiem of 1776 in memory of Mozart. 1792: Rosetti falls ill in spring and dies in Ludwigslust on 30th June aged 42.

A requiem for the funeral of Maria-Theresia zu Oettingen-Wallerstein (Regensburg, 10/07/1757 - Wallerstein, 09/03/1776)
After Mozart's death, on the 14th december 1791 a memorial requiem for him (now lost) by Antonio Rosetti was performed in Prague, for 4000 people. It might have been the same requiem as his Wallersteiner requiem (see above) or it has been adapted for the occassion.
