August Friedrich Wilhelm [August] Reissmann [Reißmann] (14/11/1825 - 13/07/1903) a German critic and composer. Born in Frankenstein, Lower Silesia, died in Berlin, Germany. He received his first musical lessons in Mosewius, Breslau, from where he moved to Weimar (1850-52) and from there to Halle, in 1863, to Berlin and in 1880 to Leipzig. As a composer, he is credited with a large number of songs, piano pieces and chamber music, two dramatic scenes (Drusus and Lorelei), the operas Gudrun and Die Bürgermeistererin von Schorndor, an oratorio (Wittekind), etc.
