Jean-René Quignard (28/12/1887 - 06/05/1978), a French composer; born in Romorantin, Loir-et-Cher, France, died in St. Brieuc, Cotes-d'Armor, France. Jean-René Quignard was a French composer, music educator and organist. He studied organ and composition and was, among others, a student of Louis Vierne at the Schola Cantorum de Paris. He became Maitre de Chapelle and organist at the Église Notre-Dame in Versailles. Later he became director of the Conservatoire de Saint-Brieuc and left again in the Breton cradle. As a composer he wrote many church music (masses, cantatas and sacred music) for choir and organ.
