Ludwig (also: Louis) Ehlert (18/01/1825 - 04/01/1884), a German composer, born in Konigsberg, died in Wiesbaden. Pianist, pupil at the Leipzig
Conservatorium under Mendelssohn and Schumann; settled in Berlin as a teacher in 1850 ; visited Italy several times, directing the Societa Cherubini in Florence; taught in Tausig's Berlin school in 1869-1871 ; was teacher to the princes in Meiningen ; and settled in Wiesbaden. Works: Overtures to Hafiz and Winter's Tale ; Spring Symphony ; Senate romantique ; Requiem for a child ; Songs and pianoforte pieces.
