Friedrich Wilhelm Otto [Otto] Braune (11/02/1811 - 19/07/1884), a German composer and church musician. Born in Berlin, died in Halberstadt. He studied at the Royal University from 1830 to 1832. Institute for Church Music in Berlin, he received further training from the music theorist Siegfried Dehn. In 1856 he applied for the “vacant” position of cathedral cantor in Halberstadt, where he began his duties at Easter of the same year. Otto Braune died in Halberstadt; he left behind his wife Clara (née Rüdiger) and a daughter.
