A. Mortaro
Antonio Mortaro (c.1560 - c.1619), an Italian composer and organist, born in Brescia. Probably a pupil of Antegnati; became a Franciscan in 1595 and except for a period as cathedral organist in Novara (1602-6) lived mainly in Brescia. His four volumes of 3-part madrigals were many times reprinted; he also published much church music in up to twelve parts, and polychoral instrumental music.
