Johan Sluys (10/03/1964) born in Brussels. In 1986 Johan Sluys obtained his licentiate degree in classical philology at the KU Leuven with a thesis on Aristoxenos' Elementa Harmonica. Subsequently, he first staged at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he was awarded First Prizes for piano (class M. Schroyens) and chamber music (F. Van de Vondel). In 2000 he obtained a master's degree in writing from Kristin De Smedt. Finally, he obtained with great distinction a master of composition with Claude Ledoux at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons. In addition, in the immediate vicinity of Sluys there is also choir conducting with Erik Van Nevel and Orchestra conducting with Daniel Gazon.

Requiem for a child soldier, for soloists and choir. in 2005 his Requiem for a child soldier for soloists, choir SSSSAAAATTBB and three percussionists was selected and performed at the ISCM World Music Days in Zagreb.
