Valeria Lvovna [Lera] Auerbach (21/10/1973), a female Russian composer. She was born in Chelyabinsk, a city in the Urals bordering Siberia. Since 1991 she has made New York City her permanent residence, while Hamburg remains her European home. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano and music composition from The Juilliard School. She went on to study at and graduated from the prestigious piano soloist program of the Hannover Hochschule für Musik.

SATB chorus. solo cello. mezzo-soprano). It is based on the poem “Novogodneye” by Marina Tsvetaeva. This poem was written shortly after the death of Rainer Maria Rilke, close to New Year of 1927.
All sections performed without pause.
'Requiem for a Poet' is a single large movement.
