Réquiem Música por la Paz
Period:21st century
Composed in:2013
Musical form:free
Text/libretto:Latin mass and Spanish texts
In memory of:the innocent victims of Mexican crime
The "Requiem Music for Peace" was composed in 2013, in memory of the innocent victims of Mexican crime, especially minors who have been murdered by their kidnappers. Premiered on May 1, 2014 at the Reforma Auditorium in Puebla performed by the May 5 Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Fernando Lozano, with the Puebla Normalista Choir, soprano Enivia Mendoza and tenor Leonardo Villeda. It follows the classic texts of the mass for the dead, using an eclectic language that ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary language, passing through baroque counterpoint, neoclassicism and romantic resources. The use of the piano in certain sequences stands out.
