Antonio Cicognani

Antonio Cicognani (18/05/1859 – 1934) was an Italian organist and composer. He was organist of the Musical Institute and chapel master of alexandria cathedral. He then taught harmony, organ and sacred music at Liceu Rossini de Pesaro. He was the author of sacred music and two operas and had been master of Giovanni Spezzaferri, Amilcare Zanella, Zandonai, Francesco Balilla Pratella and Michetti.
In their production they deserve to be especially quoted: - Requiem Mass; - Ave Maria, 8 voices and organ; - The Blessed Mass; - the Hypomixolidica Mass,in 4 voices and organ; - Vexilla Regis, 4 voices and organ, etc. He wrote: Il canto gregoriano (Gatteo, 1903).
