Matthias Pernsteiner (1775 - 09/12/1836), an Austrian composer. Born in Friedberg / Bohemia (Frymburk / CZ), died in Gmunden / Upper Austria. Teacher, organist and composer. The son of the kit maker Franz P. worked as a school assistant and collegiate musician in the Kremsmünster Abbey from 1797–1801, then went to Gmunden as an alto and school assistant, married Katharina Söllinger, daughter of a master potter, and was parish organist from 1814–36. Among other things, he arranged from J. Haydn's creation a mass. Was probably also involved in the design of the hymn book (1807 and above) of his patron P. D. Landsmann (church hymn book).
