T. Luby
Timothy Luby (27/07/1946), an American composer (born in Troy, New York). He received his BA in Music History and Literature and MA in Theory and Composition from the Crane School of Music at Potsdam. He has pursued advanced study in composition at the Indiana University School of Music. Mr. Luby's teachers include Martha Beck Carragan of Troy, Arthur Frackenpohl, Robert Washburn, the late Cesar Bresgen in Salzburg, Austria and Frederick Fox at Indiana University.
His compositions include a number of songs, anthems, works for solo organ and organ with instruments, orchestral works and a requiem for solo treble, chorus and orchestra. In 1996 he held the position of Composer-in-Residence at St. Paul's Church (Episcopal) in Albany, NY. The late renowned organist Leonard Raver and Albany Pro Musica with David Griggs-Janower conducting and The St Cecilia Orchestra have premiered his works. He has received numerous commissions and grants and has recently been nominated for the Grawemeyer Award in Music Composition.
During the 1994-95 season he was a guest lecturer in Music Theory at the Music Department of Schenectady County Community College.

In The Shadow Of The Rainbow is a Requiem mass for solo treble, SATB and orchestra. His major recent projects include the large choral and orchestra composition Requiem: In the Shadow of the Rainbow, commissioned for a Capital District Hospice benefit performance. This took place at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in November 1996 and was performed by Albany Pro Music and former members The St Cecilia Orchestra under the direction of David Griggs-Janower. Subsequently, the work has received a number of broadcasts on WMHT radio. The work received a second performance by the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society under Rand Reeves at Union College Memorial Chapel, Schenectady NY in April, 1998. A new work, Genesis, was commissioned for this performance as a companion piece. The most recent performance of Requiem was in Milwaukee by the Bel Canto Chorus under the direction of Rick Hynson.
