Timothy Luby (27/07/1946), an American composer (born in Troy, New York). He received his BA in Music History and Literature and MA in Theory and Composition from the Crane School of Music at Potsdam. He has pursued advanced study in composition at the Indiana University School of Music. Mr. Luby's teachers include Martha Beck Carragan of Troy, Arthur Frackenpohl, Robert Washburn, the late Cesar Bresgen in Salzburg, Austria and Frederick Fox at Indiana University.
His compositions include a number of songs, anthems, works for solo organ and organ with instruments, orchestral works and a requiem for solo treble, chorus and orchestra. In 1996 he held the position of Composer-in-Residence at St. Paul's Church (Episcopal) in Albany, NY. The late renowned organist Leonard Raver and Albany Pro Musica with David Griggs-Janower conducting and The St Cecilia Orchestra have premiered his works. He has received numerous commissions and grants and has recently been nominated for the Grawemeyer Award in Music Composition.
During the 1994-95 season he was a guest lecturer in Music Theory at the Music Department of Schenectady County Community College.
