Ferdinand Lukas [Ferdinand] Schubert (18/10/1794 - 26/02/1859), an Austrian schoolmaster and composer, born in Vienna, one of the elder brothers of the famous Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828).
Requiem in G minor
Requiem in G minor opus 9, is for soli, chorus, at 4 mixed voices and orchestra (2 violins, cello, bass, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 trombone, kettledrum and organ) composed in 1828, in memory of the composer's brother Franz Schubert. The Requiem was performed the 3rd November 1828 in the presence of Franz who was bedridden on the 11th and died on the 19th November. Ferdinand's Requiem was the last musical performance which Franz attended; so it might the last music Franz listened to.
