Ignace Xavier Joseph [Joseph] Leybach (17/07/1817 - 23/05/1891), a French-Alsatian pianist, organist and composer, born in Gambsheim (Alsace), died in Toulouse, France; pupil of Pixis, Kalkbrenner and Chopin; organist at Toulouse Cathedral from 1844. Wrote more than 200 salon-pieces for piano, about 350 organ-pieces, works for harmonium, motets and songs.
The French (from Gambsheim, Alsace) composer, organist and pianist Ignace Xavier Joseph Leybach (17/07/1817 - 23/05/1891) was a remarkably prolific composer of superficial works designed for popular consumption.
Among his works are several volumes of songs and motets with organ.

About the cd release of Opal: Despite the quality of the recordings and the state of Moreschi's voice at the time he made them, these relics make it possible to imagine the former qualities of this lovely and rather well cultivated voice. The following is perhaps the best preserved audio witness to Moreschi's voice; here our artist performs a verset ("Pie Jesu") from the Requiem (the "Mass for the Dead") by an obscure composer (Leibach) of Moreschi's time.
(Alessandro Moreschi (1858-1922) was born in Montecompatrio (near Rome) and died in Rome, where he was the last castrato.)
