Bengt Johansson (02/10/1914 - 22/06/1989), a Finnish composer, from Helsinki. He studied the violoncello, and was a director of musical broadcasting of the Finnish Radio (1952). He composed some operas, e.g. Linna (1975), works for orchestra and a great number of choral music. Bengt Johansson occupies a paradoxal position in the history of Finnish music. He was not actually a Modernist, but he was one of the pioneers of electronic music in Finland and a major reformer of Finnish choral music in the 1960s.

Johansson studied the cello with Albin Öfverlund and Yrjö Selin at the Helsinki Conservatory in the 1930s. He studied composition with Leevi Madetoja, Selim Palmgren and Sulho Ranta, orchestration with Leo Funtek and orchestra conducting with Jussi Jalas at the Sibelius Academy 1944-1947; completed his conductor's degree and received composition and cello diplomas 1947. He was a sound engineer with the Finnish Broadcasting Company 1952-1975
