Australia
Jack Waldemar [John] Villaume (11/02/1907 - 16/08/1994), an Australian composer and bankassistent. John Villaume was the performing and writing name used by Jack Waldemar Villaume. Though he is best remembered as a musician, Jack worked for 48 years for the ANZ Banking Group. His heart was in his music, and he spent most of his life performing, conducting, and teaching. He was a fine pianist and choral conductor, but not a prolific composer. However, he really enjoyed the discipline of getting his thoughts on paper and trying them out on the piano.
Nature's Requiem
Nature's Requiem (1957), song for low voice. Text by Christine Rosetti.
Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) was a female British poet. She wrote a poem called Requiem or Song
When I am dead, my dearest, Sing no sad songs for me; Plant thou no roses at my head, Nor shady cypress tree: Be the green grass above me With showers and dewdrops wet; And if thou wilt, remember, And if thou wilt, forget. I shall not see the shadows, I shall not feel the rain; I shall not hear the nightingale Sing on, as if in pain: And dreaming through the twilight That doth not rise nor set, Haply I may remember, And haply may forget.
