Rudolf Hauptmann (01/04/1864 - 12/04/1937), an Austrian composer. He was the son of the folk singer Anton Hauptmann. Rudolf Hauptmann received his first piano lessons from the music school director Kapellmeister Joseph Böhm and later studied harmony, form theory and instrumentation. He performed with Bratfisch in Laxenburg Castle with Crown Prince Rudolf. Before the First World War he appeared as a bandmaster in the Gartenbau variety show. He also made guest appearances in Austria-Hungary, Germany and Italy. Most recently he was a pianist in the renowned Hotel Bristol and in other Viennese bars. Hauptmann was a coffee house owner (including the Franzensbrücke Café) and paper dealer. He was also a founding member of the AKM and a member of the International Artists' Organization.
