Morten Lauridsen (27/02/1943), an American composer with Swedish roots, from Colfax, Whitman, Washington. He grew up as the son of Swedish immigrants in Portland, Oregon. He attended Whitman College and the University of Southern California, where he studied advanced composition. A long-time professor and Chair of the Department of Composition at USC, he has been Composer in Residence of the Los Angeles Master Chorale since 1994.
