Juan Bros y Bertomeu (12/05/1776 - 12/03/1852), a Spanish composer, born at Tortosa, died at Oviedo, Church composer, pupil of Queralt at Barcelona, where he soon became assistant maestro de capilla at Santa Maria del Mar, and organist at San Severo. In 1807 he obtained the position of maestro de capilla of the cathedral at Malaga, was in the same capacity at Leon in 1815-23, then from 1834 at Oviedo, whither he had retired after 1823. He composed numerous masses, psalms, and other church music, among
which are quoted as the best : 3 Misereres with lamentations, a Te Deum, and a Requiem.
