Marian Ursula [Marian] Arkwright (25/01/1863 - 23/03/1922), a female English composer (born in Norwich). She studied music at Durham University receiving her B.Mus. in 1895 and a Doctorate from the same university in 1913 She pursued a career as a composer and in later life as a conductor of The Newbury Orchestral Union. Her brother, was the musicologist Godfrey Edward Pellew Arkwright (1864 - 1944). She died while residing at Highclere, Newbury, Berkshire. Her estate was quite substantial for its time amounting to £18,755. She remained unmarried.
