August Ferdinand Häser (15/10/1779 - 01/11/1844), a German (from Leipzig) conductor, choir-master, music teacher and composer. He was a son of Johann Georg Häser (1729-1809), the latter from 1785 music director at the university church and from 1800 university directors in Leipzig. Brother of the singer Charlotte Henriette Häser (1784-1871). Alumnus at the Thomasschule in Leipzig; 1800-1806 Kantor in Lemgo; 1806-1813 in Italy; 1813-1817 in Lemgo again; from 1817 choir director at the Hoftheater Weimar, simultaneously music teacher of princess Augusta (the later empress). From 1829 church music director and teacher of the seminary in Weimar. Haeser’s religious music includes Latin settings: one mass, two requiems, etc.
