G. Sollima
Giovanni Sollima (24/10/1962), an Italian cellist and composer. He was born in Palermo in 1962 in a family of musicians. He studied cello with Giovanni Perriera and composition with his fahter Eliodoro Sollima www.mnemes.com/ at the Conservatorio di Palermo, where he graduated with highest honors. He later studied with Antonio Janigro and Milko Kelemen at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Giovanni Sollima undertook a brilliant career as cellist, collaborating with great musicians such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Eliau Inbal, Jorg Demus and Martha Argerich.

This requiem is a collaborative composition of Marco Betta (Lux aeterna), Lorenzo Ferrero (Introito), Carlo Galante (Dies irae), Paolo Arcą, (Offertorio), Matteo D'Amico (Sanctus), Giovanni Sollima (Agnus Dei) and Marco Tutino (Libera me) on a text of Vincenzo Consolo (1933), an Italian writer.
First performance: 27/03/1993, Cathedral of Palermo.
