Chris Allen (03/03/1954), an English composer (born in Gorleston-on-sea (Norfolk). He began learning to play the clarinet at the age of 13 and went on to study at the Royal College of Music with Colin Bradbury and Stephen Trier (bass clarinet). Following a brief freelance career, working principally with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, London Festival Ballet and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras, he settled in Bedfordshire to work as a woodwind teacher where he continues to play regularly. He is also a composer and has to his credit a number of publications which include studies for flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon - many of which feature in examination syllabuses; he has also written a wide range of educational and serious music including solo and chamber works together with larger orchestral, band and choral pieces.
Little requiem
Little requiem is for baritone solo and small orchestra, written in memory of my father. "Little" Requiem because it tries to present my musical thoughts from a child's point of view (hence no development of material as such).
