He taught himself to compose largely through score studies of French late Romanticism, Impressionism, the "Groupe des Six" and jazz. He earned his studies as a clarinetist and bassist in jazz bands. This is how his musical roots are determined.
Due to his great sympathy for French culture and his excellent language skills, he chose the pseudonym "Jean-Marie Bernard" and therefore titled his works in French. His real name has the same initials: Jürgen Müller-Bernhardt. Under this name he identifies himself as a writer and poet. His literary oeuvre includes novels, stories and eleven volumes of poetry, most of which have been published. In addition to large works such as masses, requiems and concerts, he primarily writes chamber music of all genres (for performance reasons).
