Jesmond Grixti (08/08/1969), a Maltese composer (from Sliema), now resident in Victoria, Australia, of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Australia, Europe and Japan. Grixti studied composition privately with Carmelo Pace in Malta in the early 1980s and composition with Michael Regan at the London College of Music from 1986-90, where he earned a diploma of fellowship. He also studied composition with Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Accademia L. Perosi in Biella from 1994-97 and earned a licenza at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan in 2000, on a scholarship from the government of Italy. While in Italy, he studied conducting with Emilio Pomàrico at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan in 1998-99. He has studied composition with Brenton Broadstock at the University of Melbourne since 2000, on a grant from the Janatha Stubbs Foundation, and there earned his MMus in 2002.
Pezzi da requiem
Pezzi da requiem is written for unaccompanied 4 mixed voices. However for practical reasons it may be performed by a choir. It is an intimate spiritual work dedicated to Franco Donatoni (1927 - 2000), an Italian composer.
It contains: 01. Requiem aeternam 02. Dies irae 03. Lacrimosa 04. Domine Jesu Christe 05. Hostias 06. Requiescant
