Joseph Christian Willibald [Joseph] Michl [also called "Mickl aus München" and Joseph II Michl] (09/07/1745 - 01/08/1816), a German composer, double bass player and publisher; born in Neumarkt, Oberdonaukreise, Bavaria, Germany.
Josef Willibald Michl (* around July 9, 1745 in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz; † July 30, 1816 there) was a German composer and court composer to Elector Max III. Joseph. J. Willibald Michl came from an important family of musicians that shaped musical life in Bavaria for generations.
Michl initially grew up in his native town of Neumarkt, where he probably received his first musical lessons from his father and his brothers. Then he was sent by his father to the well-known Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich, which was widely known for its excellent musical education and cultivation. Michl was viewed by his teachers as a rather mediocre student who was more concerned with music than with science. It is not known when and where he graduated.
