It is for a little choir, a big choir and orchestra. Benoit didn't use all requiem parts and it isn't meant for a Catholic sevice. However, it is considered as a deep religious work.

It contains:
- Requiem aeternam & Kyrie eleison 10:40
- Dies irae 15:55
- Sanctus & Benedictus 10:35
- Agnus Dei 12:45.
