Sándor Szokolay (30/03/1931 - 08/12/2013), a Hungarian composer (born in Kunágota (Komitat Békés) and since 1966 teacher at Liszt-Musikhochschule (prosodie and composition). He has been awarded for his composition several times: 1955 Warschau, 1957 Moskau, 1959 Wien, 1967 Paris, 1960 and 1965 Ferenc Erkel-Preis, and for his opera Vérnász the "Kossuth-Preis" in 1966. Influences: Arthur Honegger, Béla Bártok, Igor Strawinsky and the "Wiener Schule".

Pure Flames of the End of October. Oratoric remembrance of the martyr heroes of 1956. The work is for orchestra, choir and childrens' choir. No soloists. Written in memory of the Hungarian uprising against the communist regime and the Russian occupation was in October 1956. First performance by Zoltan Kocsis (director of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, who conducted the concert). Text: Latin Mass plus poems by Gaspar Nagy.
