Stanislav Otruba (17/05/1868 - 21/05/1949), a Czech music composer, teacher, choirmaster, conductor. Born in Biskupství, died in Těšetice.
He was born in the village of Biskupství , which today is part of Náměšte na Hané . He came from a peasant family, but his father was a country letterman and musician. He acquired his musical basics at home and improved himself by private study with Josef Nešvera . He became a good violinist and organist and wrote his first compositions at the age of 15. He studied at the gymnasium in Olomouc and Přerov and at the teachers' institute in Příbor . At first he was a tutor at Svaté Kopeček near Olomouc. In 1904he was appointed a teacher (later also managing teacher) in Těšetice, where he remained until his retirement. He did not give up music even in retirement. In Olomouc, he led a singing group of retired teachers.
He founded and directed a choir and an orchestra in Těšetice. He performed singing games with volunteers and also staged Blodk's opera V studni . As a composer, he mainly devoted himself to church music. His secular compositions were based on the melody of Hanák folk songs, and his songs and choruses were mostly composed to Hanák texts.
