Nicola (Niccolò) Antonio [Niccolò] Zingarelli (04/04/1752 - 05/05/1837), an Italian composer and violinist, born in Naples. Zingarelli wrote a lot of instrumental and vocal music: 11 Pastorale, pieces for organ, some chambermusic, ca. 70 Symphonies for orchestra. Vocal compositions: 168 masses and 30 requiems, e.g for manschoir and organ, psalmen, Vespern, hymnen, Magnificat, Litanien, Sequences, and ca. 250 motets, 5 oratorien, pianosongs and Italian cantates and ca. 40 operas.
Gaetano Donizetti dedicated his requiem (1837) to Zingarelli.
