Marco Betta (25/07/1964), an Italian composer (from Enna) of primarily stage, orchestral, chamber, and choral works that have been successfully performed throughout Europe; he has also written much incidental music. Marco Betta studied composition with Eliodoro Sollima at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini in Palermo and there graduated in composition. He subsequently studied with Armando Gentilucci in Florence and with Salvatore Sciarrino at the Accademia in Cittą di Castello.

Lux aeterna from Requiem per le vittime della mafia is for soprano, tenor, chorus and orchestra.
This requiem is a collaborative composition of Marco Betta (Lux aeterna), Lorenzo Ferrero (Introito), Carlo Galante (Dies irae), Paolo Arcą, (Offertorio), Matteo D'Amico (Sanctus), Giovanni Sollima (Agnus Dei) and Marco Tutino (Libera me) on a text of Vincenzo Consolo (1933), an Italian writer.
First performance: 27/03/1993, Cathedral of Palermo.
